I've been trying to share John's story for the last 16 months, with little progress. I've been posting more on social media than I have been writing about it, so I can't get upset when things don't "take off."

The Power of Advocacy

I received a message the other day from someone who saw the article about John's PCR. I've had conversations with this woman in the past, but she's fighting her own battle, so I tend not to bother her. She sent me a friend request, so of course, I "stalked" her page. I don't know how she has the time to investigate local stories, especially as a nurse working full-time.

Her page is filled with news articles from Ohio regarding the corruption in the courts. The exchanges between prosecutors and attorneys, the unethical behavior of the judges—it's all there. Do you ever stop to check out the articles? Do you wonder what's true and what's not?

The Reality of Corruption

If I weren't advocating for John, spending every second trying to share his story, I'm not sure I'd have much interest in local media. The corruption might not bother me as much. I take great pride in being ethical and honest. If you know me, you know I can't stand three things: 1. a liar, 2. a cheater, and 3. a thief.

This woman has been advocating long before John's incident and has recently published a book regarding her son's case. I've read the hateful comments on the news articles but haven't passed judgment on anyone. Only those who have experienced the corruption throughout the courthouse can truly attest to how unethical these political parties are.

Behind the Scenes

Sure, you might have an opinion regarding the media and the stories they publish, but do you truly know or understand the behind-the-scenes "scratching of the back" behavior? Every response brief written by the State has been so far-fetched that it's almost comical to read. Oral arguments last December were embarrassing to listen to.

Not only did the "fill-in" prosecutor not know what he was talking about, but I genuinely think he believed the lies he spoke. It was embarrassing to watch. If you were fortunate enough to witness the argument, you know firsthand Edward stumbled with some of his answers. It was at that moment I realized John was doomed.

The questions asked by the Justices were scripted. They already knew what direction they were going but had to entertain and make it newsworthy.

The Importance of Awareness

It's crucial to stay informed about local issues. The more we understand, the better equipped we are to advocate for change. Advocacy is not just about one person; it's about a community coming together to fight for justice.

By sharing stories like John's, we can shed light on the corruption that exists. We can hold those in power accountable. It's not just about one case; it's about creating a ripple effect that can lead to meaningful change.

Conclusion

In conclusion, advocating for John has opened my eyes to the larger issues at play. The fight against corruption is ongoing, and it requires dedication and perseverance. If you care about justice, take the time to educate yourself. Read the articles, engage in discussions, and don't shy away from the uncomfortable truths.

Together, we can make a difference.
