I'll never forget our first year celebrating together. It was 2019 and he still traveled for work. We were two months into knowing each other and I intrigued him. I think because I was risqué and highly interested.
He came home a few days before his birthday and I asked him what he wanted, you know, besides me. He wanted me to make his favorite dessert, which I thought "perfect I can buy a cake at the store". When I asked what it was, I had to google search it. Who the heck knows what "watergate salad" is. When I read it only had like 5 ingredients and didn't involve a stove, I jumped right on it.
We met at Chilis near the Southern Park Mall, his choice of course. I kept the dessert in the car and decided to surprise him when our date was over. After dinner we decided to walk the mall. I ran into a friend who was utterly shocked to see me with a man, he couldn't stop laughing, which triggered me. I waved and we kept walking.
When we were done walking, we went to my car and sat and talked for a little bit. I gave him the pan that had the dessert in it, and he thought it was cake. He opened the lid, and his smile said it all. I think he was shocked I put the effort in to make his favorite. I gave him a kiss and we parted ways. He was leaving in a few days to go back to Florida for work.
Looking back, I never would have guessed we'd celebrate 6 birthdays together. Although these last two have been different, I'd still pick him every year to celebrate with. My babes, my boo, my love. I miss him so much.
