Regroup. Refocus. Reclaim

Sometimes the hardest person to check in on, is yourself.

I've been self-reflecting a lot lately. Not that anything has changed, but for some reason I feel incredibly burned out. I've lost some of the compassion, motivation, and energy that once came so naturally to me. I've spent so much time showing up, handing responsibilities, advocating, helping others, and pushing through that I never really stopped to ask myself a simple question: How am I doing?

When I finally had time to sit down and ask, I didn't necessarily like the answer. I'm tired, but not just the kind of tired that a good night's sleep can fix. It's the kind of tired that leaves you questioning every choice, decision, emotion, and feeling you experience throughout the day. It's exhausting.

So, I'm choosing three things; Regroup, refocus, reclaim. We can work on them together!

Regroup: allow yourself to slow down and figure out what you need to do. What's important vs. what can wait? What fills my cup, and what empties my cup.

Refocus: What deserves your energy opposed to what's draining it. Make a list and prioritize weekly.

Reclaim: Take your time back, spend 30 minutes a day doing something that completes you. Focus on self-care; go for a walk, journal, dance or sing. Do your hair, make-up, or dress up and go out.

What are somethings you utilize in everyday life to help you through the exhaustion??

1 Kings 19:4-7: The prophet Elijah experienced deep physical and emotional exhaustion, and God did not scold him; instead, He provided food, sleep, and gentle care.

From Trial to Truth: Understanding Wrongful Convictions

After navigating thousands of pages of transcripts, court filings, and constitutional errors, I realized families are often left in the dark. In the next few weeks, I will be hosting a workshop to change that. This workshop will focus on the following.

  1. How to read a criminal trial transcript

  2. How to identify red flags in jury instructions

  3. Understanding post-conviction relief options

  4. How to organize records for attorneys

  5. When and how to involve media

  6. Protecting your loved one’s constitutional right

If you or someone you know would benefit from this workshop, please forward them the link and encourage them to sign-up.
